Synopsis
First published in 1960, this volume collects five James Bond short stories rather than a single mission. Typical pieces send Bond after a killer on a road near headquarters, to avenge a couple murdered on a Jamaican estate, into a Mediterranean smuggling triangle, onto a yacht with a brutal American collector, and into a dinner-table confession that is not an assignment at all. M and the service appear in some tales and recede in others. The book is a set of independent Bond stories, not a novel and not a later film script.
