Charmed Life

This children's novel follows Eric "Cat" Chant and his sister Gwendolen, a young witch, after a boating accident brings them under the care of Chrestomanci, an enchanter who polices magic across related worlds. At Chrestomanci Castle, Gwendolen tries to force her way to power with spells that go wrong in public, while Cat seems to have no magic of his own. Other children in the household, including Janet from a neighboring world, become mixed in the plot. The book is a comic fantasy of hidden gifts and sibling rule, not a school story of ordinary witchcraft.

Bound in paper printed and blocked with a wrap-around colour picture. Dark blue endpapers and slipcase printed in silver with a pattern.
