Daenerys Targaryen tries to hold Meereen with dragons she cannot fully control. Theon Greyjoy, Stannis Baratheon, and others pursue survival, revenge, or a crown. The book is large-scale epic fantasy concerned with broken rule, delayed reunion, and the approach of a threat from the far north.
