First published in 1911, this novel follows Zuleika Dobson, a celebrated beauty and magician, who comes to stay with her grandfather, the Warden of Judas College, Oxford. Every undergraduate falls in love with her; she can love only a man who is immune to her. The Duke of Dorset, rich and at first able to resist, becomes the test of that rule, and the joke of mass infatuation moves toward a collective disaster among the young men. The book is a satirical Oxford fantasy, not a realistic campus novel.
