Synopsis

First published in 1961, this James Bond novel opens with Bond sent to a health clinic, then recalled when the crime syndicate SPECTRE hijacks two atomic bombs and offers to ransom them against a city. Bond is assigned to the Caribbean, where the trail leads to Emilio Largo, a wealthy operator working from the yacht Disco Volante off the Bahamas, and to Domino, Largo's mistress, who has reason to turn. Felix Leiter of the CIA reappears. The action moves through Nassau, underwater wrecks, and a NATO hunt for the weapons. The book is a Cold War spy thriller about nuclear blackmail, not a diving manual.
