The Wannsee Conference and the Final Solution
A Reconsideration
By Mark Roseman · 2012
Back to CatalogueThis study reconstructs the meeting of 20 January 1942 at a villa on Berlin's Wannsee, where Reinhard Heydrich gathered SS and ministry officials to coordinate what they called the Final Solution. Roseman uses the surviving protocol and related files to show how deportation, forced labour, and mass murder in the East were recast as administrative agreement among agencies. He sets the ninety-minute session against prior killings and the later machinery of the camps. The book is a documentary history of one coordinating conference, not a general survey of the whole genocide.
