The Trial of Joan of Arc

Being the Verbatim Report of the Proceedings from the Orleans Manuscript

By No Author · 1968

Synopsis

This book is an English rendering of the 1431 condemnation proceedings against Joan of Arc at Rouen, taken from the Orleans manuscript of the notary Manchon's verbatim record. Sessions of interrogation cover her voices, her wearing of men's clothes, her mission to Charles VII, and points of doctrine put by Bishop Cauchon and the assessors during the English occupation of Normandy. The form is question and answer, with adjournments and articles of accusation, not a later life of the saint. The work is a trial transcript of a heresy process, not a biography and not a novel.
