The Siege of Quebec
And the Campaigns in North America, 1757-1760
By Captain John Knox · 1976
Back to CatalogueThis journal, compiled from an officer's wartime notes and first issued in the 1760s, covers the British campaigns in North America from 1757 to 1760. Captain John Knox of the 43rd Regiment records the Louisbourg operations, the ascent of the St Lawrence, Wolfe's siege of Quebec, the battle on the Plains of Abraham, and the later defence of the captured city through a Canadian winter until Montreal falls. He notes weather, rations, bombardment, and the conduct of regulars, provincials, and French forces. It is a campaign diary of the conquest of New France, not a biography of Wolfe.
