First published in 1962, this is Robert Graves's continuous prose retelling of the Trojan cycle for younger readers. He begins with the apple of discord and the judgment of Paris, follows Helen's abduction, the Greek gathering at Aulis, the years of siege, the deaths of Hector and Achilles, the wooden horse, and the sack, and closes with the fates of several survivors. Gods interfere; heroes quarrel over honor and spoils. The book is a single narrative drawn from Homer and later sources, not a translation of the Iliad alone.
