First issued to subscribers in 1926, this is T. E. Lawrence's narrative of the Arab Revolt against Ottoman rule during the First World War. He describes his work as a British liaison with Sharif Hussein's sons, especially Feisal, and the guerrilla campaign along the Hejaz railway, in the desert, and toward Damascus. The book mixes campaign narrative with portraits of tribal leaders, accounts of raids, and long passages on landscape, logistics, and the strain of serving two political aims at once. It is a participant history of irregular war in Arabia, not a general history of the wider Middle Eastern theatre.
