The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

By Douglas Adams · 2011

Back to Catalogue
Synopsis

This second Hitchhiker volume continues after the destruction of Earth. Arthur Dent, Ford Prefect, Zaphod Beeblebrox, Trillian, and Marvin pass through Milliways, the restaurant that sits at the end of time and serves the death of the universe as dinner theatre. Plots include Zaphod's meeting with himself, the Total Perspective Vortex on Frogstar, the hijacking of a stunt ship, and Arthur and Ford's stranding among primitive human ancestors after a Golgafrinchan disaster. Comic asides on bureaucracy, philosophy, and bad poetry interrupt the chase. The book is a science-fiction farce, a sequel rather than a free-standing origin story.
