The Neverending Story

By Michael Ende · 2022

Back to Catalogue
Synopsis

A fat, unhappy boy named Bastian Balthazar Bux steals a bound book from an antiquarian shop and reads of Fantastica, a land dying as the Nothing unmakes places and names. The Childlike Empress sends the boy hunter Atreyu to find a cure; as Bastian reads, the story turns and calls him to give her a new name. He then wanders Fantastica with the amulet AURYN, making wishes that cost him memory and form. The novel is a fantasy about reading and invention in two worlds, not a simple quest that ends when a princess is rescued.
