The Magicians of Caprona

In the Italian city-state of Caprona, the spell-houses of Montana and Petrocchi have been rivals for generations, and the city's protective angel seems to be failing. Young Tonino Montana, who learns magic slowly, and Angelica Petrocchi are drawn into the feud just as a hidden enchanter works against both families. The children must find a lost words-of-power spell and look past the adults' pride. Chrestomanci appears as an outside authority. The novel is a children's fantasy of two magical households, not a history of Renaissance Italy.
