By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle · 1977

Synopsis

First published in 1912, this adventure novel sends Professor Challenger, the skeptical reporter Malone, Lord John Roxton, and the doubting Professor Summerlee up an Amazon tributary to a high plateau cut off from the present. There they find living dinosaurs, ape-men, and a tribe of humans, and they must survive hunts, captivity, and the problem of getting evidence back to London. The narrative is a journal of march, climb, and siege on the isolated tableland. The book is a scientific romance of exploration, not a Sherlock Holmes case and not a later film tie-in.
