The Last White Rose
The Secret Wars of the Tudors
By Desmond Seward · 2016
Back to CatalogueThis history argues that the Wars of the Roses did not end at Bosworth in 1485. Seward follows Henry VII and Henry VIII as they face Yorkist pretenders, exiles, and remaining Plantagenet kin: Lambert Simnel, Perkin Warbeck, the imprisoned Earl of Warwick, the de la Pole brothers, and later Margaret Pole, Countess of Salisbury. Foreign courts in Burgundy, France, and the Empire shelter rivals, while Tudor policy moves from imprisonment to execution. The book is a narrative of plots against a new dynasty, not a full life of either Henry and not a general Tudor social history.
