The Kings of England

Ever Since it Was So Called

By Robert Glover, Thomas Milles · 1995

Back to Catalogue
Synopsis

Drawn from the 1610 Catalogue of Honor, this work presents the kings of England from the legendary and early medieval rulers through the Tudors in a herald's voice: genealogy, marriages, children, badges, and brief notices of reigns and burials. Robert Glover compiled the Latin materials; Thomas Milles put them into English. The entries are catalogues rather than full narratives, arranged monarch by monarch with arms and descent. The book is an early-seventeenth-century genealogical survey of the monarchy, not a modern constitutional history.
