Synopsis
This volume pairs two of Kipling's children's collections. The Jungle Book (1894) gathers the Mowgli wolf-boy stories and other animal tales of India and the sea. Just So Stories (1902) offers comic origin fables - how the camel got his hump, the whale his throat, the elephant his trunk - told in a spoken, repetitive prose meant to be read aloud. Both books mix story and verse. The volume is a paired set of his animal fiction for children, not the novels Kim or The Light That Failed.
