The Hornblower Set 3
Admiral Hornblower. the Commodore; Lord Hornblower; Hornblower in the West Indies
By C.S. Forester · 2020
Back to CatalogueThis set collects the last three novels of Horatio Hornblower's active career: The Commodore, Lord Hornblower, and Hornblower in the West Indies, first published from 1945 to 1958. Now a senior officer, Hornblower takes a Baltic squadron to support Russia against Napoleon, then is drawn into the last campaigns in French waters and into politics at home as a peer. The final book shifts to the postwar Caribbean, where an admiral's station involves smugglers, former enemies, and the limits of British power after 1815. A short closing tale sketches his old age. Each volume is a complete naval novel. The set is the later Hornblower sequence, not a biography of Nelson.
