The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

By Douglas Adams · 2010

Back to Catalogue
Synopsis

Arthur Dent, an ordinary Englishman, is saved from Earth's demolition by Ford Prefect, a researcher for a galactic guidebook, seconds before the planet is destroyed to make way for a hyperspace bypass. They hitch a ride on a Vogon constructor ship, then join Zaphod Beeblebrox, the two-headed President, his companion Trillian, and the depressed robot Marvin aboard the stolen starship Heart of Gold. The travellers bounce among improbable worlds while the Guide's entries interrupt the plot with mock-encyclopedic notes. The novel is comic science fiction about bureaucracy, chance, and the search for a decent cup of tea and an answer to life.
