Synopsis
Published in 1909, this sequel finds Anne Shirley, now sixteen, teaching in the Avonlea village school and still living at Green Gables with Marilla. She joins a village improvement society, deals with difficult pupils, and helps raise the twins Davy and Dora Keith, who come into the household. New neighbours and a continuing friendship with Gilbert Blythe run through the seasons of Prince Edward Island. The novel is a continuation of Anne's story from pupil to teacher: small-town comedy and the work of making a place more orderly, more beautiful, and more kind.
