And Then There Were None

Synopsis

First published in 1939, this Christie mystery gathers ten strangers on a rock island off the Devon coast, lured by invitations from a host who does not appear. A recorded voice accuses each guest of a killing that the law did not punish. They begin to die in ways that follow the nursery rhyme of ten little soldiers, and the remaining guests try to deduce which of them is the murderer as the boat fails to return. The novel is a closed-circle detective story: an island, a diminishing company, and a design that uses the rhyme as a killing order.
