This volume joins the two prose books about Winnie-the-Pooh: the 1926 collection of Hundred Acre Wood adventures and The House at Pooh Corner. Christopher Robin's stuffed bear, together with Piglet, Rabbit, Owl, Kanga, Roo, Eeyore, and later Tigger, hunts heffalumps, gets stuck in a rabbit hole, builds a house, and plays at expeditions that go in circles. The setting is a wood based on Ashdown Forest. Each chapter is a small mishap rather than a long quest. The book is children's comic pastoral, not the separate volumes of verse written for Christopher Robin.
