This set brings together the seven Pictorial Guides to the Lakeland Fells, covering the Eastern, Far Eastern, Central, Southern, Northern, North Western, and Western ranges of the English Lake District. Each fell has a hand-lettered essay on routes of ascent, ridges, and the view from the top, with pen maps, diagrams of crags, and small drawings of tarns and cairns. Wainwright notes paths, dangers, and his own preferences among summits. There is no story. The work is a walking gazetteer written as personal description, not a novel and not a purely photographic album.
