The Complete Novels

By Charlotte Brontë, Emily Brontë, Anne Brontë · 1991

Back to Catalogue
Synopsis

This set gathers the seven novels of the three Bronte sisters. Charlotte's books follow a governess who becomes a wife at Thornfield, a mill-town struggle in Shirley, a teacher's life in Villette, and the earlier Professor. Emily's single novel is the two-generation story of the Earnshaws and Lintons at Wuthering Heights. Anne's Agnes Grey is a governess's account of two households; The Tenant of Wildfell Hall is a nested narrative of a woman who leaves a drunken husband. Yorkshire houses, work, and marriage are the common ground. The collection is the fiction, not the poems or the juvenilia.
