Synopsis

This compilation joins the Hebrew scriptures - Law, Prophets, and Writings - to the Christian New Testament. The first part runs from creation and the patriarchs through Exodus, monarchy, exile, and return, and includes psalms, wisdom books, and prophetic oracles. The second part presents the life and death of Jesus in four gospels, the acts of the early assemblies, letters attributed to Paul and others, and an apocalyptic vision. Many books are themselves collections. The whole is a library of narrative, law, poetry, and exhortation formed over centuries, not a single-author novel and not a modern history of Israel or the Church.
