Silver on the Tree

This is the fifth novel in The Dark Is Rising sequence. Will Stanton, the Welsh Drew children, and Bran Davies are drawn together as the Dark rises, moving between contemporary Wales and older Britain while they seek the last objects of power, including a crystal sword. Merriman Lyon, the oldest of the Old Ones, guides them; the Black Rider and other agents of the Dark oppose them. Arthurian and Welsh legendary figures enter the present struggle. The book is a concluding children's fantasy of quest and choice, not a scholarly retelling of the Mabinogion.
