A Wrinkle in Time

First published in 1962, this novel follows Meg Murry, her younger brother Charles Wallace, and their neighbour Calvin O'Keefe as they search for Meg's missing father, a scientist who vanished while working on a problem of space and time. Three strange visitors-Mrs Whatsit, Mrs Who, and Mrs Which-enable them to tesser, folding space to other worlds. Their course leads to the dark planet Camazotz, ruled by a disembodied intelligence called IT, where conformity is enforced and the lost father is held. The book is a science-fantasy quest about family, fear, and a universe contested by forces of control and love.
