A Wild Sheep Chase

By Haruki Murakami · 2024

Back to Catalogue
Synopsis

A nameless advertising copywriter in Tokyo, recently divorced, is summoned by the secretary of a powerful right-wing figure after a sheep with a star-shaped mark appears in a photograph used in an advertisement. Ordered to find that sheep, he travels north with his girlfriend, who is distinguished by her ears, toward Hokkaido and a house connected to his friend the Rat. The search leads through hotels, forests, and a confrontation with a figure called the Sheep Man. The novel is a deadpan quest that treats corporate power, disappearance, and an occult animal as if they belonged to the same investigation.
