Synopsis
In the Texas border country near the Rio Grande, Llewelyn Moss, a welder and Vietnam veteran, stumbles on the wreckage of a drug deal and takes a case of money. He is hunted by Anton Chigurh, a killer who uses a captive bolt pistol and a coin toss, and by other men sent to recover the cash. Sheriff Ed Tom Bell, near retirement, follows the trail and talks about a violence he no longer understands. Moss's wife Carla Jean waits at home. The novel is a crime chase and a meditation on chance, not a police procedural with a tidy close.
