Synopsis

Richard Mayhew, a young Scotsman working in London finance, stops to help an injured girl named Door and finds himself invisible to the everyday city. He is pulled into London Below, a medieval and magical underside reached through the Underground, sewers, and forgotten markets. Door, last of a murdered family, seeks the reason for their deaths, aided by the Marquis de Carabas and the fighter Hunter, and hunted by the killers Croup and Vandemar. The plot is a quest through named stations and Night's Bridge. The book is urban fantasy, not a guidebook to the real Tube.
