This set gathers four Lord Peter Wimsey detective novels written between 1923 and 1937. In the first, a naked corpse in a Battersea bath draws the aristocratic amateur into a case of mistaken identity. In the second, the convenient death of an elderly woman leads Wimsey and the enquiry agent Miss Climpson through a chain of later killings. The third is a Scottish puzzle in which an artist is found dead and six fellow painters become suspects. The last follows Wimsey and Harriet Vane to a country-house honeymoon interrupted by a body in the cellar. The four books are independent cases, not one serial plot.
