Mr. Rabbit's Symphony of Nature and Other Tails

This illustrated treasury gathers short nature pieces by Charles van Sandwyk: poems and prose in which animals speak as neighbours and musicians. The title sequence presents Mr Rabbit as a conductor of birds, frogs, and woodland players; other sections include Full Moon Eyes, Neighbourly Birds, Canadian Content, and Mr Rabbit's Christmas Wish. Typical subjects are owls, songbirds, seasonal weather, and small courtesies among creatures. A fold-out portrait of an owl and many colour drawings sit with the text. There is no long continuous plot. The book is a children's miscellany of animal verse and fable, not a single novel.
