Synopsis

This novel continues the Hitchhiker sequence. Arthur Dent has settled on a remote world as a maker of sandwiches when the past, and a daughter he did not know he had, arrive and pull him off the planet. Ford Prefect finds that the Guide has been taken over by a corporate new edition that edits reality as well as text. Tricia McMillan, who never left Earth with Zaphod in another strand of events, is drawn from a television career into the same collision. A Grebulon reconnaissance team waits on a distant world, misreading astrology as science. The book is comic science fiction about parallel Earths and a Guide that will not stay a book.
